TraTax is a firm of chartered accountants registered under the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA) with the legal name of Thenesh, Renga & Associates. It is a non-audit firm specialised in tax advisory. The firm is also registered with the Ministry of Finance and the Malaysian External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) and an ICAEW approved employer.

The firm advises listed companies, foreign companies, unit trust, NGOs as well as small and medium enterprises (SMEs). The clientele base comprise of diverse industries including manufacturing, professional services, trading, F&B chains, construction, property development, healthcare, financial services, telecommunications, societies, government-linked companies and statutory bodies.
Thenesh Kannaa

Thenesh is a fellow member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA, UK) and a member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA), the Chartered Tax Institute of Malaysia (CTIM) and the International Fiscal Association (IFA). He also holds a diploma in International Taxation from the Leiden University, Netherlands.
Thenesh is a licensed tax agent in Malaysia. Thenesh has experience working at a legal firm, accounting firms and the academia, being adjunct to a university ranking within the top 100 in the world. He has also presented on numerous tax topics in more than 100 forums, conferences and seminars organised by various institutions. He is also co-author of the following books published by Wolters Kluwer (CCH):

1. Manual of Capital Allowances and Charges

2. The RPGT Handbook

3. Malaysia Master GST Guide (2nd Ed., 2015)

Thenesh is also the author of the Malaysian chapter of the Holding Companies Database published by International Bureau of Fiscal Documentation (IBFD), Amsterdam. A work co-authored by him has been awarded the MIA's Articles of Merit Award for Public Accountants in Business 2013.

He serves/has served several professional qualifications examination or education teams by being an examiner, a member of marking team and/or contributing towards maintaining currency of the educational materials. His views/articles on contemporary taxation issues and the related matters has been published in MIA's Accountants Today, CTIM's Tax Guardian, ACCA's AB magazine, MAICSA's Corporate Voice and the Taxation Institute of Hong Kong's Asia-Pacific Journal of Taxation. He has been interviewed on contemporary tax matters by the Traxx.fm (RTM 4), V'Buzz (Astro TV), New Straits Times and the Malaysia SME business newspaper.


Renganathan Kannan

RENGANATHAN KANNAN served in Malaysian Institute of Accountants as an Elected Council Member for three consecutive years (2016- 2019). He is a Fellow Member of FCCA (UK), a member of MIA, CTIM, Certified Professional Forensic Accountant (CPFA, USA) and the International Fiscal Association (IFA, Netherlands). He is a licensed tax agent and a member of MIA's Tax Practice Committee, Monitoring Committee, and Chair of Young Professionals Committee.
Renganathan specialises in tax advisory and is experienced in representing clients from diverse industries on tax audit, investigation cases and appeal proceedings at various stages. He is a member of the CTIM Membership Committee and the ACCA Malaysia Advisory Committee (MAC). He has presented on contemporary tax matters at various tax forums and seminars. He has hands-on experience dealing with various sophisticated tax appeals.


Richard Thornton

Richard has more than four decades of experience in British and Malaysian taxation. He has served as head of the Malaysian tax department for Ernst & Whinney (now part of Ernst & Young), as Visiting Associate Professor at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) and as examiner for ACCA's Malaysian taxation subjects.
Richard has also served as Chairman of the London Taxation Study Group, Council Member of CTIM, Convenor of the Taxation Committee of the Malaysian International Chamber of Commerce and Industry and as correspondent for the International Bureau of Fiscal Documentation in Amsterdam. He has also been involved in activities relating to Malaysian Budgets including compilation of the annual budget booklet, recommendations to the Minister of Finance and press and TV conferences. His Thornton's Malaysian Tax Commentaries and 100 Ways to Save Tax in Malaysia series is popular among tax practitioners in Malaysia.


Ravi Balakrishnan

Ravi Balakrishnan is a fellow member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA, UK) and a member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA) and the Chartered Tax Institute of Malaysia (CTIM). Ravi was also a representative member of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) Technical Committee at the Federation of Malaysian
Manufacturers (FMM). Ravi has acquired extensive experience in taxation whilst being employed in the tax department of the Big Four (formerly Five) accounting firms and later in the commercial sector with diversified global businesses.
